Peter JacobusFor more than 35 years, Peter Jacobus has helped change the face of broadcast journalism. From traditional broadcast networks to the Internet, he has managed staffs varying in size from 2 to 200 people while providing millions around the world with news and information programming.

As a vice president for the ABC Television in New York, he traveled throughout the United States consulting the network’s 206 affiliate news departments and conducted regional seminars on broadcast journalism for thousands of news executives.

He was news director at award winning news departments KGO-TV/San Francisco, KYW-TV/Philadelphia, WXYZ-TV/Detroit, and KUSI/San Diego. He was assistant news director at WABC-TV/New York. He held positions as assistant news director, executive producer, producer, reporter, assignment editor, and writer at several major market television stations.

He specialized in start-up television news organizations while operating his own company, Peter Jacobus Media. Projects included building an international television news organization for The Christian Science Monitor and a satellite-delivered 24-hour all-news channel joint venture of Conus Communications and Showtime networks. As CEO of the Computer Television Group, he syndicated America’s first television program devoted to computer hardware and software.

While working with Preview Travel he assisted in the creation of the Internet’s first Web site with fully integrated video files of travel destinations. Consulting for “WeatherPLUS,” he utilized the Internet to feed 24/7 weather and traffic programming to regional cable systems in Europe. Jacobus created and produced a weekly half-hour travel news and information program for the Travel Channel. Travel News Now aired as the cable network’s signature program for more than five years. He also produced several specials for the Travel Channel.

Millions of viewers have watched news and documentary programs he has produced from locations around the world: Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America. He has lived in London, Tokyo, and several cities in the United States.

Industry groups have recognized his achievements with Emmy awards (National Association Television Arts and Sciences) for reporting and best newscast, Associated Press best newscast and reporting awards, the Robert F.
